Citric Acid/Magnesium Oxide/Picosulfurate Powder For Oral Solution (SODIUM PICOSULFATE/MAGNESIUM OXIDE/CITRIC ACID - ORAL)

Generic Name: Citric Acid/Magnesium Oxide/Picosulfurate

Instructions

Carefully follow instructions for mixing the medicine with water before use.

Drink the medicine.

Use only cool or cold water to mix the medicine. Do not use hot water.

Do not use any other juices or liquids to mix the medicine.

Stir until the powder is completely dissolved.

Drink the medicine immediately after mixing.

Store at room temperature away from heat, light, and moisture. Do not keep in the bathroom.

Do not store the medicine in the refrigerator or freezer.

Drink plenty of water while on this medicine.

While on this medicine, only drink clear liquids, such as water, apple juice, broth, tea, black coffee or gelatin. Do not eat solid foods or juices that contain pulp. Avoid liquids that are red or purple in color.

This medicine can reduce the absorption of other medicines. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the best times to use this product.

If you miss a dose, contact your doctor for instructions.

Drug interactions can change how medicines work or increase risk for side effects. Tell your health care providers about all medicines taken. Include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal medicines. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist before starting or stopping any medicine.

Cautions

Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.

Do not use the medication any more than instructed.

Contact your doctor if you notice a change in the amount or darkening of your urine.

Tell the doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning to be pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Do not take other laxatives while taking this medicine.

Do not share this medicine with anyone who has not been prescribed this medicine.

Some patients have serious side effects from this medicine. Ask your pharmacist to show you the information from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and discuss it with you.

Side Effects

The following is a list of some common side effects from this medicine. Please speak with your doctor about what you should do if you experience these or other side effects.

  • bloating
  • diarrhea
  • headaches
  • nausea and vomiting
  • stomach upset or abdominal pain

Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you notice any of these more serious side effects:

  • confusion
  • dizziness
  • fainting
  • fast or irregular heart beats
  • signs of kidney damage (such as change in urine color or bubbly urine)
  • seizures
  • severe stomach or bowel pain
  • blood in stool

A few people may have an allergic reaction to this medicine. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, skin rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical help quickly.
